GFDD/Funglode Actively Engaged with the Public during the Geography Week

April 30, 2018

“The geography of civil rights and duties: a call to action,” was the theme of the 2018 Geography Week Fair

The 7th Geography Week Fair was held on April 25 and 26, 2018, continuing an annual tradition that makes available an informative space where visitors can educate themselves and incorporate the fundamentals on the importance of learning about geography as a science that is devoted to the study of places and people and their relationship with their environment. This initiative is being organized by Plan LEA, which is an initiative of Listín Diario, and GFDD/Funglode have been part of it for several years.

In this instance, GFDD/Funglode participated in the Geography Week Fair, which was held at the Plaza Sambil shopping center in Santo Domingo, with a stand that attracted more than 300 students. There, they learned about the initiatives that the foundations have organized.

Another of the activities that were scheduled to take place during the Fair was the presentation of the documentary “Exuma” and the subsequent lecture by Omar Shamir Reynoso, a Dominican biologist, who shared with the audience a reflection on the environment and natural resources. The screening of the documentary took place in the framework of the Dominican Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), an initiative of GFDD/Funglode.

Finally, Reydi Moreta, a member of the GFDD team, participated as a member of the jury in the Questions and Answers competition that took place as part of the Geography Week Fair, which was held on April 25.
