Official Announcement in Santo Domingo of the Sixth Edition of the Dominican Republic Evironmental Film Festival
August 25, 2016Santo Domingo – All the details about the Dominican Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) were presented yesterday in the capital of the country, Santo Domingo, before a large group of journalists, environmental experts and friends and collaborators at the Colonial Gate 4D Cinema. The Chief Operations Officer of DREFF, Yamile Eusebio, and Omar Shamir Reynoso, Coordinator of GFDD environmental programs, spoke of all the details of this great celebration of environmental cinema that is held this year from the 13th to the 18th of September in 11 of cities across the country.
Alongside Eusebio and Reynoso, members of DREFF’s National Advisory Committee were present: Fernando Báez, Jake Keel, Guillermo Cesáreo and Oswaldo Vásquez, as well as representatives of some of the sponsoring and collaborating institutions of the festival, including Narciso González Cultural Center, St. Michael School, PUCMM, Colegio New Horizons, Colonial Gate, Funiber and Ecored.
“With 45 films, 140 screenings, over 40 venues and more than 45 international and national guests, DREFF will put on its largest festival to date!”, explained the Chief Operations Officer. The capital will host the opening ceremony September 13 at 5:00 pm at Palacio del Cine de Ágora Mall, with the screening of the documentary The True Cost and a big celebration of sustainable fashion. During the 6 days of the festival, there will be more than 140 screenings, dozens of panels, workshops, exhibitions, special activities and activities with the community. Moreover, this year the Dominican Republic through DREFF will be the first country in the Americas to host the Green Film Network (GFN) Award, the “Oscar” of environmental filmmaking.
Under this year´s motto “Yo Soy Sostenible”, the sixth annual edition will be held throughout 11 cities in the Dominican Republic :Santo Domingo, Santiago, Baní, Puerto Plata/Sosúa, San Juan de la Maguana, La Vega, Samaná, Hermanas Mirabel, Bonao, Punta Cana and La Romana.
