Screening of “This Changes Everything” at The Community for Learning: How to Take Advantage of the Climate Change Crisis to Create a Better World

May 6, 2017

Santo Domingo – Seventh grade students from The Community for Learning school in Santo Domingo viewed a screening of the documentary “This Changes Everything,” by the director Avi Lewis on May 4. The documentary is a look at seven communities around the world with the premise that we can take advantage of the climate change crisis to transform our failed economic system into something radically better.

With the purpose of strengthening the learning process for students and promoting environmental awareness and sustainable development, the Year-Round Environmental Film Screenings of the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) organized this screening of the famous film based on an essay by Naomi Klein, “an epic attempt to rethink the great challenge that climate change presents,” explained the coordinator of GFDD Environmental Programs, Omar Shamir Reynoso.

At the end of the event, professor Joan Camargo urged the students to practice the concepts presented in the documentary.

The Year Round Environmental Film Screenings offer the opportunity to educational and community centers, and businesses, governmental institutions and non-governmental organizations to enjoy the most interesting environmental screenings that have been presented in previous editions of DREFF for free.
