DREFF 2019 concludes with an encouraging message to the Dominican youth
November 16, 2019The seventh edition of the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival ended yesterday with an encouraging message to the Dominican youth: a message of commitment to the environment and a vision of a more harmonious planet under the care of everyone. A total of nine academic institutions of the Dominican Republic assembled hundreds of students of all ages, along with their professors and educational leaders, throughout the four days of the Festival filled with great films and profound discussions about environmental challenges and the best practices to tackle them.

Hundreds of young people of all ages show enthusiasm, knowledge and environmental consciousness in the seventh edition of the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival
November 15, 2019The last four films of DREFF 2019 were screened at Santo Domingo and Santiago, concluding this edition in 3 cities and 9 venues in the Dominican Republic were hundreds of young people of all ages have shown grand knowledge and awareness of environmental threats as well as the available solutions to tackle climate change. Lila’s Book by Marcela Rincón González at Biblioteca Infantil y Juvenil República Dominicana (BIJRD); El Buzo by Esteban Arrangoiz at the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) of Santo Domingo; Pandas by Drew Fellman & David Douglas at Colegio Bilingüe New Horizons of Santiago de los Caballeros; and Ghost Fleet by Shannon Service at Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU) completed the program composed of 12 films from 6 countries- Colombia, Argentina, Belgium, U.S.A., Mexico and the Dominican Republic- screened in association with universities, schools, libraries, and cultural and research centers.

November 14, 2019The third day of DREFF 2019 concludes with Dominican flair and was filled with great and educative discussions, excellent films and fun shorts for the children. Cacú: un cambio por la vida and Chasing the Snot Whales of Samaná, and their director Marvin del Cid, a Guatemalan living in the Dominican Republic, were a big hit.

November 13, 2019The second day of DREFF 2019 concluded tonight at the Pontifica Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) in Santo Domingo with the screening of Sea of Shadows after a long day filled with great films around various colleges as well as cultural and academic institutions around the country. Two cities and seven venues hosted productions about the environment and sustainable development, where they exposed the most pressing challenges of the planet and the best and most successful methods to overcome them. In the morning, the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) of Santo Domingo showed the screening of the American movie Albatross by Chris Jordan, with the presence of its producer, Victoria Sloan Jordan, who participated in an interesting discussion with students from the academic institution.

The Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival’s seventh edition premiered today with 9 screenings in 3 cities and 6 venues
November 12, 2019Under the theme “Passion for our planet”, a new edition of the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival began today. A total of 12 screenings from 6 countries- Colombia, Argentina, Belgium, U.S.A., Mexico and the Dominican Republic- will be shown over the next 4 days in 9 venues around the country in association with universities, schools, libraries, and cultural and research centers.
